Take the Guesswork Out of Soundproofing Levels

Why Rw Values Mislead Buyers When Comparing Pod Acoustics

Many pod manufacturers still use Rw values to describe soundproofing performance. However, Rw is designed for single building elements—such as walls, windows, or doors—not complete products like office pods.

A pod is made up of multiple components: walls, floor, ceiling, doors, ventilation, and materials. These elements interact, and each affects the overall acoustic performance. As a result, an Rw value alone does not accurately reflect how a pod performs in real use.

A New Global Standard for Measuring Pod Soundproofing

We are pleased to share that our long-term acoustic partner, Mr. Valtteri Hongisto from the Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland, together with his professional project teams, has reached the third and final stage in the approval process of ISO FDIS 23351-1.

Our GROUPSPACE products achieve performance levels of STI: 0.03 and Ds: 32 dB – clear, independently verifiable results that place them among the market leaders, with no need for assumptions or guesswork.

This new international standard for phone booths and office pods is now commercially available and can be applied by accredited test laboratories worldwide.
